Bio

Katy is an award-winning writer born and raised in the Midlands, who came to writing later in life after coming face to face with the Grim Reaper when she was hit by a car. Left with life-altering injuries and a new appreciation for life, she re-evaluated her existence and decided to make it even more difficult by becoming a writer.

With a passion for drama with a dark streak of humour, her work is very much rooted in working-class life, with all its warmth, colour and larger than life characters. And writes about the underdog trying to flip the system upside down.

She currently has work in development with Studio21 and was part of the Paines Plough 2024-2025 Tour the Writer Mentored Scheme.

When not writing Katy makes up one of only a handful of disabled women in construction, runs an international book club and can often be found tootling around spooky old places in search of the cake shop.
